Conference Call Notes and Online Survey (#2)This is a featured page

The results from the online survey are below. And, at the very bottom of this wiki page (below all the text), you'll find some helpful attachments and the notes from our last call.

1. Sponsorship packages need to be really compelling so that we can ensure we get plenty of organizations interested to help cover costs. So far, we've created two skeletal packages (that will have much more detail later):

* Supporter level: $500 (includes 1-2 registrations, limited visibility, and table at fair)
* Leadership level: $1000 (includes 2-4 registrations, high visibility, table at fair, and ad that all attendees will see in program or on flash drive)

What do you think of these options?

These two are great -- go for it! 69.2%
We need a cheaper package 0.0%
We need a more expensive package 46.2%
I'd like to propose different rates 7.7%

Proposals:
1. Silver, Gold and Platinum package. Maybe limit the highest package to 2-3 organizations and they get special recognition on any sort of program/pamphlets we print. Charge $5,000. I figure it never hurts to shoot higher.

2. I just think we have to be careful that we stay ahead of ourselves cost-wise. if we do 2 registrations at the supporter level, that's already $350 of benefit for a $500 sponsorship - plus the fair, plus whatever we do for 'limited visibility', plus admin time to actually liaise with the sponsors. Likewise $1000; i'm not sure that in the current system we get more benefit from a $1000 sponsor than a $500 sponsor. I also think we should have a few, more expensive packages, and/or named events (meals etc). I'm thinking in the $10,000 range. If no-one takes them, no biggie; if they do, then great! 10,000 bucks!

3. I think these levels are within an excellent price range for non-profits. Corporate sponsors might be able to afford more.

4. You might want to include a $10,000 or $5000 sponsor too- so that one organization or company could pay big bucks and get on a banner- I will send you via e-mail the sponsorship levels I use for an event here in St Louis for Metropolis, a civic organization, for our music festival. The levels also have really clever names which I think would be great.

5. I think we could ask for more, maybe orgaqnizational and corporate amounts?

6. I'd encourage a "Lead sponsor level" at $2500 or so. Shoot high, then land at $1000.

7. I'd propose a wider range of sponsorships. I'll be sending an email with more detailed stuff on this.

2. Registration rates are how this conference really covers expenses, allowing the organizers to avoid fundraising (ick!). Abby and Heather came up with some proposed registration rates, based on a 1000-person target: * Early Registration $125/person (deadline sometime in Dec/Jan) * Regular Registration $175/person (deadline a week or two before the conference) We're thinking that we would not delineate between student, staff, nonprofit, year of service, etc. in order to keep this simple. What do you think?

This sounds great -- yay! 92.3%
I'd like to propose different rates 7.7%

Proposals:
1.Only possible changes would be a higher cost for college staff, but when it comes down to it, i would guess that all costs are paid by most colleges. I've noticed most colleges funding students with special conference/grant funds.

2.I like the idea of totally cutting out the food part. We can create a savers card and people who are coming w/ an org. will have a per diem.

3. There are going to be a bunch of people who add a lot to their workload by helping out with this conference -- this cannot go unrecognized. We have a proposal to make and think through with all of you:

* Committee Members: One complimentary registration
* Committee Chairs: $500 towards travel to/from the conference (and 1 complimentary registration
* Committee Co-Coordinators: $500 towards a trip to the host campus before the event for planning and preparation purposes and $500 towards travel to/from the conference (and 1 complimentary registration)

What do you think?

I'm good with this plan -- sign me up! 100%
I'm not so sure and have other ideas 0%

Proposals:
1.I feel fine with the plan but can't sign up, unfortunately.
2.Would this include committee's w/ co-chairs?

4. Would you be interested in serving on a temporary committee that can help Abby and Heather work through the budget? This would require a few hours of work in the next month.

Yes 38.5%
No 30.8%
Maybe...keep me in mind if you really need folks 30.8%
